A: The iPass Open Mobile Platform is a cloud-based service delivery system. The platform gives enterprises unrivalled choice in devices, networks and services to define their own enterprise mobility service and keep pace with innovation without an investment in infrastructure or risk of technology or carrier lock-in.
The iPass Open Mobile Platform supports any network and delivers the broadest range of device support in the industry – from Windows and Mac PCs to iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia and other devices. The platform already supports over 140 3G devices and through the Open Device Framework – a new set of integration tools – iPass customers and partners can integrate new devices in a matter of hours.
Q: What is the iPass portfolio of enterprise mobility services?
A: The iPass portfolio of enterprise mobility services is designed to provide enterprises with real-time cost, security and policy enforcement at the point of connection, at the same time be the connection manager of choice and simplify mobile connectivity at work, at home, and on the go. The services are Mobile:Connect, Mobile:Insight, Mobile:Control and Mobile:Network.
Q: How do these new services compare to the existing solution from iPass? Why should customers migrate to the new offering?
A: The new services represent a total redesign of the iPass offerings built on the entirely new iPass Open Mobile Platform. The cloud-based platform enables iPass, its customers and its partners to rapidly add new and existing serviches, devices and networks, without requiring changes in infrastructure or disrupting the mobile worker’s connectivity experience.
iPass is also delivering a new always-on lightweight connection management service. The redesigned interface is simple to use. It operates in the background and auto-connects. The iPass Mobile Connect service can orchestrate policy-based Internet and Corporate access enabling the iPass Open Mobile Client to become the connection manager of choice, and for iPass to provide real-time cost control and intelligence at the point of connection.
