Seamless connectivity for smartphones
The iPass Open Mobile Client for Smartphones delivers a consistent, intuitive experience for mobile workers needing to connect to the iPass Mobile Network from their Android smartphones and tablets or Apple-iOS-based mobile devices. In addition to providing seamless connectivity, the Open Mobile Client for Smartphones communicates with the iPass Open Mobile service to keep the application up to date and send service quality metrics (SQM) back to the Open Mobile service.

The client serves as the gateway to the iPass Enterprise Mobility Services, making connecting to Wi-Fi easy via the Mobile Connect policies set by the organization, as well as collecting and receiving device-based usage data in the Mobile Insight reports. The client is designed to be updated regularly from the iPass Open Mobile Portal, when you change policies or when iPass adds new features.

• At-a-glance dashboard: Provides a view of current connection status, historic data usage, and previous connections, plus a quick link to the iPass Hotspot Finder.
• Easy installation and on-boarding: The user interface and welcome screen improve the activation and deployment experience for new users, especially in bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environments.
  • Activation codes: Open Mobile administrators configure profile IDs (with optional PIN code) to ensure that only authorized users have access to the Open Mobile network.
• iPass Hotspot Finder: A convenient tool enabling users to locate (through search or geolocation) global destinations with available Wi-Fi hotspots.
• Usage Meter (Wi-Fi and cellular data usage): Provides users with historic data usage over Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. This feature also provides more granular data regarding which applications on the device consume the most bandwidth (ranked from highest to lowest). Data usage reporting for Android requires Android 2.2 or later.
• Usage Alerts (cellular data usage): Users can set up Usage Alerts to notify themselves before reaching their data limit. The alert notifications can be customized, based on the billing start date and monthly data limit. Usage Alerts for Android requires Android 2.2 or later.
